Police hunt for suspect in Scarsdale bank robbery
Police are searching for a suspect who say they robbed a commercial bank Saturday in downtown Scarsdale.
The robbery occurred at around 11 a.m. at the Webster Bank branch on Popham Road. Police say a man handed the teller a note and took off with a large sum of money, although the exact amount has not been disclosed.
Police and bloodhound dogs were seen combing the area for the suspect, who was last seen fleeing eastbound on Popham Road. It is not known if he was armed.
Police describe the suspect as a bearded, white male in his 20s who stands at about 6 feet 2 inches tall. They say he was wearing gray sweatpants with a stripe down the side and a hooded sweatshirt at the time.
Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to call Scarsdale police.
