Yonkers police carried out a perfect picnic tradition on Thursday.
The officers hosted their annual picnic at Kingsland Point Park in Sleepy Hollow for special education students from Yonkers schools.
The 30-year-old tradition includes a cook-out, fun field activities, and a canine show. “My favorite part is the canines because the canines are the best, they're the best dogs,” says student Geremias Gonzalez.
Around 200 students were there to hang out with the men and women in blue. “They see us out of uniform, playing ball with them, they enjoy the canine show, it's a great day for them and a great day for us,” says Picnic Coordinator Frank Messar.
