The mother who abandoned her infant in Yorktown will now face criminal charges, according to the police.
The baby was left on the doorstep of a home in the Jefferson Valley section of Yorktown Saturday night. The boy, who was only a few hours old, was wrapped in a blanket and put in a garbage bag. Despite the freezing temperatures, the baby is in stable condition at the Hudson Valley Hospital Center.
Police will not reveal the mother?s identity but say she is currently hospitalized. They say once she is released she will be arrested and charged with child abandonment, which is a felony.
