Thirty-two of Westchester?s most wanted fugitives are off the streets Friday thanks to a joint effort between the county and the U.S. Marshals Service.
According to police, the fugitives were wanted for crimes like robbery, rape and even murder. The arrests were made all over the country. County Executive Andy Spano says the county doesn?t have the resources needed to apprehend fugitives that leave the area. Police credit the 32 arrests to the U.S. Marshals' extensive criminal tracking technology.
Among those arrested was 18-year-old Rodney Alston, who police say shot a bouncer after a fight at a New Rochelle nightclub. Police say the number of arrests could go up and that they are expanding their work with the U.S. Marshals Service.
