Bridgeport police say an early morning shooting resulted in the city' s fifth homicide of the year.
They say two men were shot around 12:30 a.m.
Police say one of the victims showed up at St. Vincent's Medical Center a short time later and died from his injuries.
They say the other victim went to Bridgeport Hospital, where he is in critical condition following surgery.
Police Chief AJ Perez says it's likely the men shot each other.
Officials have not yet released either person's identity.
Perez says something needs to be done about the growing epidemic of gun violence across the nation. Police are asking anyone with information about the shootings to call their tip line at 203 576-TIPS.
