Police: Drunk cabbie nabbed on Taconic
Police say a drunken, off-duty taxi driver was arrested Wednesday night for going the wrong way on the Taconic State Parkway, not far from the site of the crash that killed eight people in July.
Authorities say they received a call from Yonkers tow truck driver Ron Nuzzaro saying that he saw a livery cab heading north in the southbound lane. A patrol unit found the cab, driven by Bronx resident Gregorio Pena, near Baldwin Road. Nuzzaro says Pena was going at least 80 miles per hour.
According to investigators, Pena's blood alcohol level was 0.2 -- more than double the legal limit.
The Livery Cab Association had condemned Pena's alleged actions following his arrest.
