Police say a Mount Vernon City Council candidate drove drunk without a license and then lied about her name.
According to a criminal complaint filed in Mount Vernon court, Hope Marable was pulled over early Saturday morning at the intersection of Atlas Place and Hillcrest Road.
The 51-year-old Mount Vernon resident is accused of driving drunk without a license. Police say she also told officers her name was Lisa Goddette. According to the complaint, that's the name of her friend.
The Board of Elections says Marable is a Democratic candidate in the race for City Council. Her Facebook page states she's a district leader in the Mount Vernon Democratic City Committee.
Marable pleaded not guilty to several charges, including driving while intoxicated and criminal impersonation, as well as violations including refusing to take a breath test.

Marable will be back in court in May.
Reports show Marable also faces driving charges and violations in Bronxville and Rye. Those cases are pending.
