Police charged two men Wednesday in the fatal shooting that occurred across the street from a White Plains day care center.
Kevin Chambliss, 30, was shot Monday in broad daylight with children playing across the street. Police say 27-year-old Omar Washington, of White Plains, is facing murder and robbery charges. Police have also arrested 19-year-old Fred Richardson of Yonkers.
Officials say the rumor on the street is that Chambliss may have robbed the suspects, prompting the shooting. Residents say they suspect the incident was gang-related, but police say they have no evidence of that.
