Police say a group of thieves broke into five cars in the parking lot of a Scarsdale church.
According to authorities, the cars of parishioners at the Saint James Episcopal Church on Church Lane were targeted in the Monday evening thefts. Police say the suspects made off with pocketbooks, a laptop computer and a digital camera.
"This is a safe area," says Marsha Morton, of Scarsdale. "I love living here but you just have to be careful."
Scarsdale police say the incident appears random, but caution residents to leave nothing of value in their car that can be seen from the outside.
