Police: Car crashes into utility pole on Route 45, shutting off power in New Hempstead

Police say Route 45 has reopened after a crash shut it down and shut off the power early Saturday morning.

Police say Route 45 has reopened after a crash shut it down and shut off the power early Saturday morning.
It happened before 4 a.m. in New Hempstead, where officials say a car struck a utility pole.
The street was closed between Rensselaer Drive and Greenridge Way while crews worked to restore power.
The female driver suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries.
