Westchester County police arrested a man with a truckload of counterfeit jeans worth nearly $250,000 Wednesday night.
Westchester County Police Capt. John Hodges says one of his officers pulled over a van near the police station at around 11:15 p.m. for having a broken tail light. But when the officer saw hundreds of pairs of jeans inside the vehicle, he grew suspicious.
?The driver had no receipts for any of the jeans and clearly couldn't explain why he has 800 pairs of jeans,? Hodges says.
Police say the driver of the van, 33-year-old Frank Dellisanti, of New Jersey, might have been coming back from a "jeans party," where people trade fake designer jeans, which are sold on the street for a fraction of their actual price.
?Our thought is that they were meant to be sold here in this area, especially with the holidays coming up,? Hodges says.
Dellisanti has been charged with trademark counterfeiting. Police are now investigating whether he was part of a larger crime ring.
