Police arrest 11 in prostitution sting
Police say two women and nine men were arraigned in Mount Vernon Thursday afternoon after an overnight prostitution sweep.
Mount Vernon police officials say the suspects were trading sex for cash near West First Street and Vista Place on the Mount Vernon-Bronx border.
The nine men, ages 18 to 72, were charged with patronizing a prostitute. The two women are facing prostitution charges.
Four vehicles and a bicycle were also confiscated during the bust, police say.
According to Mount Vernon Police Commissioner David Chong, prostitution is not a victimless crime. He says it leads to robberies, rapes and assaults.
