Village of Mamaroneck police are advising residents to watch out for scammers this tax season.

They say criminals are posing as IRS agents.

Officials acknowledged residents should hang up if they receive from someone claiming to be with the IRS requesting immediate payment by gift card or some other form of payment.

The IRS would send you a letter, and agents won't call you to request a gift card as payment.
