Police advise parents on underage drinking during prom season
Police are advising parents to be extra careful about underage drinking during the upcoming prom season for Hudson Valley teens.
Yonkers Police Commissioner Charles Gardner's message is clear: "Have a conversation with your children regarding dangers of alcohol, or drinking while driving, or substance abuse, or maybe even have a plan that if the child feels uncomfortable, maybe there can be a code word that can be transmitted where the parent can go pick up their child."
"When the children are in the limousine, it can't hurt to talk to the limousine driver and take a look in the limousine and make sure there's no alchohol," he also said.
Gardner stated there will be police presence in areas where proms are held this season.
