Police say two children hurt in Tuesday’s charter bus crash on the border of Greenwood Lake and West Milford, New Jersey remain in critical condition.
News 12 has learned that the children are from the private school Sharei Torah in the Flatbush section of Brooklyn. According to people at Greenwood Lake Boat Rentals on East Shore Road, the group had rentals secured at their marina on the opposite side of the lake but went to the wrong location and turned around shortly before the crash.
West Milford police have not confirmed this information but say the Monsey Tours bus driver hit a tree headed south on East Shore Road when a branch thrust into the bus. They say five girls in total from the private school were injured.
Several news reports online contradict what police say happened and claim the charter bus was hit by a fallen tree that was possibly damaged by a storm that tore through the area last week.
