One person is dead and another is in the hospital after a car hit a utility pole and caught fire over the weekend.
It happened around 10 p.m. Saturday on Pinebrook Boulevard.
The driver of the Jaguar was taken to Jacobi Hospital in serious condition. The passenger died at the scene.
Police have not yet released the names of the victims but neighbors who witnessed the crash say the two men were middle-aged dads who lived in the area. One woman claims the car went up in flames in less than a minute and the driver shouted "I killed my best friend."
Con Ed was on the scene Monday morning working to restore power to the area.
Police have not said if speed was a factor, but neighbors say drivers do not typically follow the 30 mph speed limit.
New Rochelle police say that since January 2016, they have issued 139 speeding citations on Pinebrook Boulevard.
