Plans for Bronx River Road hotel rile Yonkers residents
There is a growing controversy centered around a proposal for a hotel on Bronx River Road in Yonkers.
The lot is currently a car shop, but it could become a hotel or motel if the owner gets his way.
On Tuesday, the lot's owner asked the zoning board for a variance to construct a four-story hotel.
"It's going to bring transients to the area. Also, it's going to bring down the value of everybody's house," said resident Lynn Perl, who has lived in the area for 32 years.
Burke's Bar is located next to where the possible hotel would be. Workers said off camera that it could bring more business for them, but could mean more parking problems.
