A plan to build a 31-home subdivision near a backup drinking water source in Westchester County is igniting a firestorm of criticism in the town of Mount Pleasant.
The subdivision would be built on land right off of Pocantico Lake adjacent to Pocantico Lake County Park.
Zappico Development's plans are before the Mount Pleasant Planning Board, which held a public meeting Thursday night.
Residents say the new subdivision would reduce habitat for wildlife and destroy an old oak-tulip forest.
News 12 reached out to Zappico Development for comment but has not heard back.
