Three men are on the loose after allegedly stealing two pit bull puppies, cash and a cellphone from a home in Yonkers.
Police say a husband, wife and their 23-year-old son were in their home on Woodworth Avenue when the suspects came to the door around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday. Contrary to earlier reports that the suspects forced their way into the home, police now say the son let the hoodie-wearing suspects into the house. Once they entered, one of the suspects allegedly struck the son in the head with a handgun. The suspects then stole his wallet, cellphone and two pit bull puppies.
Yonkers police do not think this was a random crime. They say the son, who ended up in the hospital, initially said he didn't recognize the intruders but then he became uncooperative.
No arrests have been made yet.
