There's big news for the restaurant industry: Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Wednesday that outdoor dining will be allowed for Phase 2 reopenings.
Restaurants in Piermont say they have been planning for an announcement like this.
Some of their ideas include working with the village to possibly close down streets to one-way traffic to provide pedestrians and restaurants more room - even setting up picnic table areas.
Outdoor dining could go a long way to help business owners who have been feeling financial strain.
"Absolutely, anything to bring back some life to the village," says Maureen Hovorka, of Community Market.
Joe Printz, of Dvine Pie, said he doesn't think people are going to want to eat inside.
"I think if they have an option, the only option that they will consider for the most part is sitting 6 feet away from somebody else outside," he says.
The area is scheduled to reach Phase 2 next Monday.
