The Village of Piermont is preparing to face Tropical Storm Isaias as it makes its way up the East Coast.

Many community members told News 12 that the town is resilient and has faced the worst, but they still know the importance of being prepared.
"We've been through some hurricanes before, but we've been through much worse this year, and everyone's pretty accustomed to being prepared for the worst," says Anthony Pelliccio.

Although Isaias may not hit the area as a hurricane, residents say they still recall the damage done by Superstorm Sandy and hope it's not a repeat of the past.

Piermont Mayor Bruce Tucker says the main concern is flooding and power outages. He says the village has evacuation centers available at the village hall and fire department if needed.
"We always have an emergency response for these type of things ever since Sandy," he says. "If anything happens, call the police or call the fire department, they will be well prepared to help any resident who feels that they are in danger and we'll get them to a safe place."
