Photographer says FBI investigating his drone use
A North Salem man says the FBI is investigating his use of a remote-controlled aircraft.
Warren Spear says it all started three months ago when he was out flying his drone along the Hudson River. He said someone living in the Nyack neighborhood called police and reported him.
The photographer said he was just trying to get beauty shots of frozen barges working on the construction of the new Tappan Zee Bridge.
Spear says the FBI went to his home last week as part of the investigation.
He says he's looking forward to when more clear-cut drone laws are on the books so he can fly without any fear.
There are currently very few drone laws. They include staying away from airports, staying under 400 feet and that the drone must always be in the sight of the operator. The drones also cannot be used commercially.
Spear said he invested $2,000 into the drone, hoping to turn it into a business.
