Pfizer among Rockland manufacturers battling COVID-19 pandemic

Rockland-based manufacturers are stepping up to do their part in battling the COVID-19 pandemic.
Pearl River-based Pfizer is stepping up efforts to co-develop and distribute a potential vaccine.
"It's needed. I mean this is a huge crisis for the country and the world, and Pfizer is here to do its part," says Dr. Phil Dormitzer, vice president and chief scientific officer of viral vaccines for Pfizer.
Pfizer is working with the group BioNTech. Clinical trials may start in Germany as soon as the end of the month.
Orangeburg-based PDI and Pomona's Cambridge Security Seals are also pitching in with the coronavirus efforts. PDI is one of the largest manufacturers of wet wipes. The company has been ramping up and focusing production on hand sanitizing and surface disinfecting wipes. Cambridge Security Seals is producing more products like tamper resistant seals. Both companies are bringing in more people to get their work done.
