Person of interest in custody for Spring Valley hit-and-run
A person of interest is in police custody after an older man was seriously injured in a hit-and-run during the morning rush in Spring Valley.
The incident occurred at the intersection of Memorial Park Drive and Lawrence Street Friday morning.
Police say the man who was hit was wearing dark clothing and it appeared to be "just an accident."
"[The] unfortunate part is that he just left the scene," said Spring Valley Police Chief Paul Modica.
A number of witnesses called in to give information on the accident. Police say the person of interest was going to his job, which is where they found him.
The victim is in a medically induced coma at Westchester Medical Center.
The hit-and-run is the second to occur within two weeks in Spring Valley. Police are still looking for the driver who killed a single mother on Commerce Street on Oct. 15.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about the hit-and-run incidents to contact police.
