Pelham Road residents oppose New Rochelle Family Court relocation
Several New Rochelle residents are looking to prevent the county from moving the New Rochelle Family Court to Pelham Road, citing traffic as a deterrent.
County officials are considering relocating the family court from North Avenue to the former A&P supermarket at 366 Pelham Road.
Some residents claim that traffic would become a nightmare in what is a mostly residential neighborhood, especially given that there is only one bus stop on the street.
James O'Toole says he's representing the residents who do not want a courthouse but do want another place to shop for groceries.
The county says it is still awaiting a court facilities capital plan before recommending that the project move forward.
The next public meeting for residents to voice their concerns about the property becoming New Rochelle Family Court is set for this Thursday afternoon in the community room at 40 Willow Drive.
