Pelham Post Office may need forwarding address
The town of Pelham may have to make due without a post office for at least a year because of a lease dispute with the owner of a building. The contract dispute is between the U.S. Postal Service and its building owner, Lordae Realty of Briarcliff Manor. If the dispute is not resolved, it could leave residents without a post office in the village for a year or more.
Residents are worried about the inconvenience of going to the closest branch, located in Mount Vernon, if the Pelham Post Office closes. The postal service does have plans to build a new facility just down the block on an undeveloped piece of land. However, that facility would not be ready for at least another year. Meanwhile, the U.S. Postal Service says it is in still in negotiations with the building owner and hopes to come to some agreement so that the Pelham branch can remain open.
