Police arrested a 15-year-old Peekskill Middle School student Friday and charged him with making a bomb threat at the school last week.
Police say the school secretary received a call on April 28 from someone claiming to have placed a bomb in the building. As a result of the threat, the school was evacuated and students were sent home. The Westchester County Bomb Squad then moved in with bomb-sniffing dogs to search the building. No bomb was found.
School Superintendent Judy Johnson says she wants the student prosecuted to the full extent of the law to send a message that pranks like that will not be tolerated. Johnson sent a letter to parents about the bomb threat case and what steps the district is taking.
