A Peekskill man is free today after spending the past four years behind bars.
Jamar Smythe had his conviction overturned because investigators say that two Yonkers police officers lied about the case to get him convicted.
In 2011, Yonkers detectives Christian Koch and Dennis Molina arrested Smythe during a traffic stop. They said they found cocaine and Ecstasy in his car.
Koch's testimony had been under scrutiny after he and Officer Neil Vera raided a School Street apartment where the suspect, Dario Tena, fell out of a window and died. An internal investigation found Koch and Vera lied to get the search warrant.
Charges have now been dropped against 20 other defendants linked to Koch and Vera.
