Peekskill housing complex finally sees the light
After four days in the dark, power has been restored Friday to residents living in a Peekskill housing complex.
On Monday morning, an equipment fire cut off electricity to the Dunbar Heights Housing Complex. According to the Red Cross, 150 people needed help from the agency because the electricity was out. The Peekskill Housing Authority provided shelter in local motels, and the Red Cross supplied food for residents. However, the lack of electricity is not the only hardship the residents had to deal with in recent weeks. A gas leak in late August forced the shutdown of gas service for six weeks. Now that things are back to normal, residents are hoping they will be compensated for food that had spoiled during the outage.
