A Peekskill man who survived childhood cancer is doing his part to help others struggling with the disease.
Patrick Fitzgerald, 29, was diagnosed with testicular cancer at 9 months old.
"The medical records say that I was the first person in the U.S. under the age of 1 to be diagnosed," he says.
Fitzgerald is lacing up his shoes and running in a 5K at Yankee Stadium Saturday, a race where all of the proceeds go toward cancer research.
Fitzgerald and his team hope to raise more money for Saturday, but most of all he says he wants to give people hope.
"It's for people to see this and just realize there are survivors and you can beat it and it's a disease that eventually we will have a cure for," he says.
