A massive construction project in Chappaqua is making it difficult for pedestrians to walk to shops in the area.
The work on South Greeley Avenue is forcing shoppers to walk in and around construction zones.
Sisters Blake and Sloan say the path to get to the businesses is dangerous. They say they are concerned with how the work will affect kids in the area as school starts in two weeks.
Town Supervisor Robert Greenstein says the large amount of construction happening at the same time is intentional. He wrote in part, "We are close to the finish line. Since many residents are away the last two weeks of August, we planned most of our most disruptive work during this time."
Greenstein says when the construction is over, residents will have new sidewalks, pedestrian plazas and a safer area overall.
