Hartsdale pedestrians are hoping to convince the state to build a continuous sidewalk from White Plains to Yonkers.
Organizers have created a Change.org petition to ask state officials to make walking safer in the area.
State Department of Transportation officials say sidewalks are typically installed as part of larger projects, but there are none slated in the area.
Greenburgh could act independently to install sidewalks, officials say, but the municipality would be left to pay for it on its own.
