Pedestrian killed near Air National Guard Base
A Newburgh man is dead after being hit by a car last night.
Town of Newburgh police say Thomas Taylor, 78, was walking along or crossing Route 17K near the entrance to the Stewart Air National Guard Base around 10 p.m. when he was struck and killed by a Toyota sedan. Taylor was pronounced dead at the scene. 
Taylor, who lived a short distance away from the accident site, was known to walk in the area fairly regularly. It is not known at this time whether he was heading home or where he was coming from.
The driver of the vehicle, Aaron Harris, 25, of the City of Newburgh, stayed on the scene. No charges have been filed against Harris.  
Police say their investigation is ongoing.
