Protesters rallied in Pearl River Sunday against the FAA's plan to route hundreds of planes over Rockland.

The FAA wants to divert 300 to 600 aircraft over the Hudson Valley in an effort to ease air traffic congestion at Newark Liberty International Airport."[It's] actually going to spread the aircraft out and delay them on runways," said air traffic controller Thomas Slane. "It's going to create noise and ? safety concerns over residential areas."Rockland County Sheriff Jim Kralik also protested the plan. He said he's worried about hundreds of planes being routed along the same corridor. He cited Sept. 11 as an example.

Rockland County is currently suing the FAA over the plan. California and Arizona residents have successfully sued over changes to air flight plans in their skies.
