A peaceful protest march was held in Yonkers Tuesday to speak out against injustices black Americans and people of color face, particularly with law enforcement.

This is the latest rally sparked by the death of George Floyd, a black man in Minnesota who died in police custody when an officer dug his knee into Floyd's neck for nearly 10 minutes.

More than 100 people gathered at Getty Square for the event. It then moved to City Hall, police headquarters, and then to the police's 3rd Precinct.
Organizers say they want to have their voices heard. They are also adamantly urging people to not use any violence, not cause any damage and not confront police.
Police closed off the streets to keep people safe.
Protesters say they want local law enforcement reform now.
Yonkers police say the department is already taking into consideration a list of demands and making changes immediately. The list includes requiring all Yonkers police officers to have body cams and implicit bias training.
The protest ended with a powerful moment - as Yonkers PBA president and city Detective Keith Olson took a knee in solidarity with protesters.
Police Commissioner John Mueller says he supports putting a body cam on every Yonkers officer, but that funding and union regulations currently stand in the way.
