The president of Yonkers Police Benevolent Association says that armed officers should patrol schools on a daily basis.
Yonkers PBA President Keith Olsen says that more police are needed, and should be well-trained and better equipped.
His statement comes following the Parkland, Florida, school shootings that killed 17 people.
Olsen says the answer isn't necessarily more guns, but that the issue is very complicated.
News 12 asked parents at Yonkers School 22 Monday about their thoughts about guns in schools.
While some parents likened having guns in schools to "throwing gasoline on a fire," other parents say they want officers to be locked and loaded.
The Yonkers School District says even though safety measures are in place, it is willing to explore any proposals from organizations supportive of the safety and security of the students and staff.
