A Bronx pastor says getting information about alleged biased crimes in Morris Heights from the immigrant Hispanic community is difficult.
The Rev. Katrina Foster says immigrants in her congregation who are in the country illegally are reluctant to report a crime because they fear being deported.
"It's simply not true - you can go to the police," Foster says. "The police are there to protect and to serve. And I go with my people to help them."
Authorities are investigating a string of alleged hate crimes recently in the Morris Heights community. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
