Parts of Bear Mountain State Park have reopened for the Labor Day weekend just weeks after flooding from a major storm forced much of it to shut down.
The park’s Trailside Museums and Zoo, Bear Mountain Inn and Perkins Memorial Drive are some of the attractions that opened to the public on Saturday.
“We had our roads wash out, trails wash out, we had some buildings be destroyed…just the whole park was just totally affected by the flooding," says Park Manager Jen Sylvestri.
Many of the parks hiking trails were damaged and remain closed. News 12 is told that the Bear Mountain’s Trail Map will be updated on an ongoing basis as repairs are made.
