Parents in North Rockland are reaching out to News 12 with safety concerns after they say a violent attack was caught on student cellphone video Tuesday at the high school.
The student cellphone video was sent to News 12.
District officials said in parent correspondence, obtained by News 12, that another student from North Rockland High School Extension attacked a teen sitting down in the cafeteria, after being let in by another student.
Parents say the student attacked was bludgeoned with a Hennessey bottle and hospitalized.
Superintendent Dr. Kris Felicello issued a statement Wednesday saying, "North Rockland High School parents were notified yesterday of a brief altercation between two students in the cafeteria. The student who initiated the altercation was charged criminally by Haverstraw police and is receiving disciplinary consequences in accordance with the North Rockland School District Student Code of Conduct. As a proactive measure, there is additional school security and law enforcement presence at the high school today."
