A law professor from Pace University told News 12 Wednesday that President Donald Trump could be the next Richard Nixon after the guilty plea taken by his former attorney.
Michael Cohen pleaded guilty to a number of charges, including campaign finance violations and making hush money payments to both Stormy Daniels and Karen McDougal at the then-presidential candidate's direction.
"It's the beginning of the end for Donald Trump," says Pace University law professor Ben Gershman. "This is a clear case of campaign finance violation, and Trump is an unindicted co-conspirator here."
So far, the president has only taken to Twitter saying if anyone is looking for a good lawyer, he would strongly suggest not retaining Michael Cohen. He also tweeted high praise for former campaign manager Paul Manafort for not "breaking" even though he was found guilty of eight felony counts on Tuesday.
Gershman says he feels that impeachment is not a matter of if, but when.
"The noose is tightening around Trump's neck," he says.
