Volunteers in Orange County are placing flags on thousands of veterans’ graves ahead of the Memorial Day weekend.
Veterans with the Nam Knights joined Orange County officials today in placing 3,000 flags on each grave at the Orange County Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Goshen.
County Executive Steve Neuhaus says they’re grateful for the volunteerism during the COVID-19 crisis so that those who made the ultimate sacrifice for this country can be properly honored.  “We want to remember people that made the ultimate sacrifice and many people in this cemetery did. A lot of people lived a full life afterwards, but many died in combat serving this country.”
Officials say it’ll take volunteers hours to put each flag by all the veterans’ graves before the end of the day.
