Ossining police say a man accused of luring a young student into his backyard has been taken into custody.
According to a message from Police Chief Kevin Sylvester and Schools Superintendent Dr. Raymond Sanchez:
“The Police Department was called to a location on Dale Avenue where a young student reported being approached by an adult male. It appears that the man had encouraged the young person into his yard and possibly into his home where it is believed that he may have engaged in inappropriate touching.”
Police say they have made an arrest in this case and will share more details Wednesday.
Sanchez says the district works in partnership with police because safety and security is everyone's responsibility.
"In society, not just in Ossining, but everywhere we need to keep an eye out for each other,” he says.
Police say they've been working to be present in as many spots as possible to keep families safe.
The school district says staff continue to be watchful around campuses as students come and go.
If you see anything suspicious, call the police right away.
