An Ossining woman says she is fed up with her landlord who she claims is doing nothing about mold in her apartment.
Alexis Martinez says she cleans her shower every single day, trying to scrub out black mold from the tub her 11- and 5-year-old sons bathe in.
Martinez describes her home as mold in a sauna because she can't control the temperature of her apartment. She says she had to turn to News 12 because her landlord -- Westfair Property Management in White Plains -- will not do anything about it.
"Where's the super? We're just asking for adequate housing. That's it. We pay our rent," says Martinez.
Martinez says the mold and heat are now affecting her family's health. She brought out medical records that show she has been diagnosed with swollen lymph nodes, numerous ear infections and hearing loss.
She also says her 11-year-old's asthma has gotten worse and her 5-year-old has had issues with his ears, nose, head and throat. She says her doctors blamed their living conditions.
"It's too much. My 5-year-old is complaining and he's crying, and the school is calling when I do send him to school -- and I've been taking him to the same thing -- urgent care, to the doctor -- what am I supposed to do?" says Martinez.
Martinez says Westfair has ignored countless calls for other problems as well, once going four months without a fridge or stove.
News 12 reached out to Westfair for comment and has not yet received a response.
