The village of Ossining mayor announced Tuesday night that he is stepping down.
Mayor Eugene Napolitano's first term runs through the end of December, but now he says his last day will be May 19. Napolitano cited personal and family reasons for his resignation. However, the mayor has recently come under fire for selling his house to an organization that plans to turn it into a group home.
Deputy Mayor Marlene Cheatham will initially take over. Meantime, village trustees have already announced plans to appoint Trustee Miguel Hernandez, to fill the remainder of Napolitano's term. Hernandez?s position on the board will then have to be filled.
