Ossining man killed in hit-and-run accident
A 55-year-old Ossining man was struck and killed by an alleged hit-and-run driver while getting the mail Thursday.
Witnesses say Nikitas Kritios was struck at around 1:45 p.m. by 71-year-old Ronnie Anker, of Yorktown, after she veered off the road. Witnesses say the driver kept going, but police eventually caught up with her two miles away from the scene of the accident.
Ossining police say they do not plan to file charges against Anker. Kritios lived on busy Route 9 in Ossining for years. His widow says the family has always feared the dangers of the road.
