Orangetown is aiming to save taxpayer dollars through the installation of new LED streetlights.
More than 2,000 LED fixtures are being installed across the town, with crews busy at work Friday to complete the project.
The town believes the $2.3 million project will pay itself back within a few years.
"They save a lot of money, they're great for the environment," says Orangetown Supervisor Andy Stewart. "They improve the visibility and safety of streets. It's a no brainer."
The project is expected to be completed early next year.
