An Orange County woman is calling for tougher state laws when it comes to domestic violence after she was assaulted and threatened with a firearm.
Ashlee Lutz' ex-boyfriend, Steven Smith, pleaded guilty last week to gun and assault charges.
The 36-year-old Westbrookville man was charged with six counts stemming from a domestic incident at the couple's home last September.
Lutz says she's upset with the plea deal and possible two-year prison sentence.
"It's a joke what domestic violence has been charged with in this county and in the state what's being done. We're being told to report it but what's happening?" says Lutz.
A representative for the Orange County District Attorney's Office said it is recommending five years in prison but that the judge is considering a lesser sentence.
Smith's sentencing is set for March.
