A 10-year-old Orange County figure skater who won a silver medal at nationals last year now says he has his sights set on the 2026 Winter Olympics.
Jacob Sanchez began figure skating when he was 5 years old. Three months later he went to his first competition -- and fell before he even started.
That misstep sparked a fire, he says.
"I was like, I want to get through this," he says. "I want to get through my routine, and I want to complete it. And then I told my mom I wanted to do this."
He pushed forward, eventually skating in 20 competitions, including this past December at the U.S. Figure Skating Championships in California, where he won the silver medal in the Boys Juvenile Division.
"I'm happy that he's accomplished so much at a young age, and I can't wait to see what the future holds for him," says his mom, Johana Sanchez.
