Opportunity Now launched this summer to help with the increased poverty sparked by the pandemic.
David Greaves of Opportunity Now, Inc. tells News 12 many people living below the poverty line have children who attend the district.
“The percentages are over 30% and with COVID-19 and everything going on the numbers are bound to increase,” says Greaves. “Any form of relief, whether it's hunger relief or any type of assistance with coat drives or any type of assistance is definitely needed."
Opportunity Now is also hoping to organize a toy and meal giveaway for Christmas but is asking for assistance from the public. To donate, visit their website.
