The city is breathing new life into an old, abandoned Yonkers railroad line.
Mayor Mike Spano officially opened the Yonkers Greenway playground Thursday along the old Putnam Railroad line.
The property has been transformed into a revitalized park, complete with a new playground.
Kids from nearby School 13 wasted no time trying out the new play area.

The Yonkers Greenway playground is located in the now rededicated City of Yonkers' Smith, O'Hara, Levine Park.
Once the park is completed, a 2-mile walking and bike path will connect Yonkers to Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx.

Officials are hoping to break ground on the completed Yonkers Greenway by next spring.
